Friday, May 23rd, 2008This turtle is unbelievable! The poor guy kept hitting his head on the wall, though. There were actually tracks in the sand where he kept going round and round…

Just Funny
Thursday, May 22nd, 2008From Slashdot, of course…
“It’s a profile of Hiroyuki Nishimura, the man behind the Japanese site 2channel. Nishimura set up the simplistic BBS in 1999, when he was an exchange student in the USA. The site has no registration or web handles or moderating, no mechanisms to filter out flames and trollish behavior, and no mechanisms to help users find the most insightful comments and topics. But this ugly, lo-res site gets about 500 million pageviews a month. Nishimura doesn’t police the contents of posts to his bulletin board, which has resulted in numerous libel claims. ‘I used to show up in court,’ he says. ‘Then one day I overslept, and nothing happened. So I stopped going.’ Nishimura has lost about 50 lawsuits and owes millions of dollars in penalties, which he has no intention of paying. ‘If the verdict mandates deleting things, I’ll do it,’ he says. ‘I just haven’t complied with demands to pay money. Would a cell phone carrier feel responsible when somebody receives a threatening phone call?’”
and the winner is…

Question!
Saturday, May 17th, 2008I love Slashdot. Here is the current poll:
What one thing would you take, if you had to leave the house for 24 hours and could only take one?
- Wallet
- Keys
- Laptop
- Mobile phone
- Digital music player
- ID card for work
Interesting thought. I think I’d take my laptop and drive safe.
I have my ID card for work in my wallet and car…
But then I couldn’t drive, unless I could bum a phone and call my sister for my car keys. Anyway, head over and vote! Or not. Either way.
Great Preachers
Saturday, May 17th, 2008I found this a long time ago. I have no idea why I didn’t post it:
A test of a Christian’s character is what he does after he comes to the blockade in the road and what his attitude is after everything has left him except Jesus. You will never know down here that Christ is all you need until Christ is all you have left. You will never be able to tell the world for sure that He will do in a crisis unless you learn how to live in a crisis. In this message we are going to walk with men in the crises of life. God is going to prove to us that He is sufficient to see every child He has through. When it gets so hard that you and I cannot live for Christ down here, by His grace, He will grab us up and take us Home. ‘He is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us’ (Ephesians 3:20), and that’s the Holy Spirit.
The question is, as a Christian, how far are you willing to go after you cannot go any further? What are you willing to do after you reach the place where you can do exactly nothing?
update!
Saturday, May 17th, 2008Why does Wordpress have to come out with a new version every few days it seems? Last time I updated to the latest version, there was a new one the next day I think. All the more reason to switch to wordpress.com – not!
The Game
Thursday, May 8th, 2008It started out innocently enough. There was bad weather outside.
My mom Twittered: “Tornado”
My sister Twittered: “Tornado weather”
And that’s all I needed. I added “Tornado weather is…” and off we went.
The result? “Tornado weather is exciting because you get cows in suits to vote Republican bananas with voices.”
Ok, the “with voices” part is pretty lame, but I just wanted to close it out. So here are the rules:
- One word per twitter.
- No consecutive twitters.
- Try to make the next word to not “go” with the previous word. Example: “vote Republican” or “Tornado weather.” Both not good. Good examples: “Tornado shoes” or “vote after.”
- Game ends with a period. We don’t have to say “Game over” every time.
Um, we could make it more complicated, but I think that works for now…?
Open to ideas, questions, etc.
Let the games begin!
winamp
Sunday, May 4th, 2008I’ve always liked Winamp. Sure, a lot of people criticize it – people criticize everything. It is kinda slow loading at times, it seems… but I really like the new orange color theme for the new skin Bento. When I first saw Bento, I liked it so much I immediately turned it off, but I gave it a second chance, and I like this. This screen shot doesn’t do justice, because it’s a moving background, but here’s a shot anyway:
Oh, and the background is called a Milkdrop Visualization set to desktop mode (other modes: windowed and full screen.)
