surprise!

Saturday, July 21st, 2007

Since I got my new, relatively large 120gb HDD, I’ve been playing around with different Linux distros. I decided to give openSUSE 10.2 a try.

I downloaded the 3.61 GB ISO. I used VirtualBox to install it inside Windows XP. After install, it asks if I want to download updates. I think, “Sure! Why not?”

Well, I “select all.” Download size? ~2.5GB. Wow, thanks, at 300kbs, that’ll only take 3-4 more hours until I can use my OS. What a great idea! That and I only allocated 6 GB to the OS in VirtualBox. I don’t have 2.5GB left.

This after my latest Fedora 7 debacle…

Update

Wireless not detected. Sound not detected. At least F7 did that. Bye, SUSE. Until next time…

I was listing to Jason Lewis the other day. (KTLK FM)

I quote:

“If you’re the victim of a murder, it won’t matter to you that crime is down.”

It’s one of those quotes that, if taken out of context, seems like a “duh” or kinda oddly funny. He was talking about why he talks about the “bad news” when there is so much “good news:” because a little bad news can ruin a lot of good news.

Good point, J.

Can someone tell me how this is possibly worth $12.95?

brb!

Thursday, July 19th, 2007

I was IMing my sister. Crazy enough since she’s one room over, about 20 feet away.

What’s even worse? She says “brb” and I hear her leave her room. A few minute later, she walks back into her room and says “I’m back.”

Like I didn’t notice, sister…

dead man…

Wow, what a week…

Wow, what a trip back. That was unreal.

I started out driving. I’m not sure how long; I’m sure mom could post the times. I was having difficulty staying awake. Not really back, just kinda. I think we stopped, fueled up, and, mom drove for about an hour. We stopped to eat, the my sister took the wheel and we hit the road. Well, the drive through, actually. I was in the very back of the van, trying to get some sleep so I could finish the drive home later that day. I was on my back and could see out the window. I saw a brick building, and I could see we weren’t going anywhere. I wasn’t sure why, but I didn’t get up to look around. Then I heard my sister say, “I didn’t order anything. I accidentally went through the drive through.”

Oh my word. If I hadn’t been so tired, I would have taken the wheel right there. As it was, I told them to wake me up when we got lost in KC. That’s pretty much standard procedure for us.

Well, we got back at 2 AM, with me driving us in (again, mom can probably tell you the times.)

I couldn’t fall asleep until 6 AM. I have no idea why…

Oh, and I think this was the first time we had passed Terrible’s Casino in Iowa at night. Wow, the sign is bright. I don’t know where the casino is, but the sign sure was bright.

Melodies

Saturday, July 14th, 2007

You may have heard them live; you may not have, but this file includes:

  1. Plenty of laughs (by them and probably you) as you hear them practice.
  2. Color commentary by Bro. Ross
  3. A special appearance by Bro. Harding…

And probably more, but I can’t remember right now, and I’m not going to listen to it (it’s 0215; I just got home from YC).

Pre-Release

Thursday, July 12th, 2007

I’m tempted to release the Melodies singing with Bro. Dawson before they actually sing it tomorrow. They walked into the room (Adult 2) and started practicing. Well, I had my PDA handy and recorded it; I mean, how could I pass it up? I’ll put it up later… it includes commentary by Bro. Ross, also. Can’t wait…

AL over NL

NL players puzzled by American League’s All-Star dominance

“It’s a little bit frustrating not to win one of these things,” Cubs first baseman Derrek Lee said. “It’s almost weird. What is it, 11 games now? It’s odd. We match up. I don’t know what it is. It’s strange.”

I think it’s because… you don’t match up? You’re not as good?

What a thought… little wonder that people think I’m smart.
