nos and eurolite

Saturday, November 25th, 2006

i was recently somewhat disappointed and surprised at work. (o’reilly auto parts dc #3)

i was disappointed that the NOS that i thought we stocked in zone 9 wasn’t really NOS – it was NOS seat covers. what a let down.

i was surprised to find a eurolite led bar. i’d be surprised to find anything eurolite in our warehouse. i’d never stocked eurolite.

oh, well.

off slashdot:

“I am an older man (44), an avid fan of video games, and I am faced with a problem; my hands are becoming arthritic as I get older. I fear I will soon have to completely give up the console games I have loved over the years. To that end, let me ask the Slashdot Nation — if you were going to give it up, what games would you insist on playing before you had to quit? I’m willing to make some effort to do this, and spend some cash; I will buy the new consoles if I need to, or try to find obscure titles.”

solution: get a life. yep. totally. and give me the money.

*so* smart

Thursday, November 23rd, 2006

from slashdot:
jcaruso writes, “It’s been more than 100 years since the discovery of the 2,000-year-old Antikythera Mechanism, but researchers are only now figuring out how it works.”

From the article:

“Since its discovery in 1902, the Antikythera Mechanism — with its intricate and baffling system of about 30 geared wheels — has been an enigma… During the last 50 years, researchers have identified various astronomical and calendar functions, including gears that mimic the movement of the sun and moon. But it has taken some of the most advanced technology of the 21st century to decipher during the past year the most advanced technology of the 1st century B.C.”

wow. pretty amazing. man’s getting smarter, right?

*so* good.

according to the common man (kfan)

the twins have been whining they can’t be competitive without a new stadium.

in the mean time, they’ve gone to the play offs at least twice and the alcs once, i believe.

and now they finally got approval/money to build a new stadium.

so, after they get the stadium, they’re going to be too good.

they’re going to have to play with 8 players instead of 9.

and joe mauer (rookie) was soo good he counts, for 2, so:

the twins, in order to not be too good (overly competitive), will have to play with 7 players on the field.

it’s kinda funny, but it’s also pretty real. they have been whining that they can’t be competitive unless they get a new stadium, and in the mean time, they’ve gone to the playoffs at least twice. after they got the new stadium, i think it would be great if mlb made the twins play with 8 players at home in their new, “competitive” stadium. it’s not “competitive,” it’s more money for the owners, because they’ve said that they’d only spend about half the money on players. the rest goes in the owner’s pocketbook.

i know it’s just sports, so it’s not a huge deal.

amps, subs, and smoke

Wednesday, November 22nd, 2006

talked to derek today about amps, subs, and car audio. found out he has a pioneer 7400 premiere while i have a pioneer 5800. he had a 1000w amp that he blew something on. i was thinking about getting a sub but after talking to him, i probably won’t. he recommended getting some more speakers instead. i might…. sometime… maybe… we’ll see. he keeps the eq on powerful or superbass, while i prefer custom. now you know.
